Examity's Proctoring Tiers
Examity offers different levels of monitoring, and the tactics differ by tier:
- Auto/AI proctoring — webcam and screen recorded, AI flags anomalies for later review (no live human)
- Record-and-review — the full session is recorded and a proctor reviews it afterward
- Live proctoring — a human watches your webcam and screen in real time
- Browser extension + lockdown — restricts tabs and flags focus loss
- ID and room scan — authentication before the exam
Why Alt-Tab and Browser Extensions Fail on Examity
On every tier, alt-tabbing hits the focus log and looking off-screen risks a webcam flag. On the automated and record-and-review tiers there's no live human, so a native overlay that never takes focus and stays off the screen recording leaves nothing for the AI to flag. On the live tier, lean on click-through and instant-hide so your visible screen is only ever the exam.
