How ExamSoft (Examplify) Locks Your Machine
ExamSoft's Examplify is one of the strictest lockdowns — used for bar exams, the NCLEX, and medical boards. It runs a secure desktop app rather than a browser:
- Full desktop lockdown — blocks other applications, screenshots, copy-paste and task switching while the exam runs
- Offline mode — the exam downloads in advance and runs with the network disabled, so nothing is watching your connection
- ExamID — facial recognition check before the exam starts
- ExamMonitor — optional webcam + screen recording reviewed by AI afterward
- Blocked-process list — refuses to start if known helper or VM processes are detected
Why Alt-Tab and Browser Extensions Fail on ExamSoft
Examplify's lockdown is designed to block other apps from starting during the exam and to recognise known helper processes. Ordinary AI tools and Electron apps appear on that block-list and are killed on launch. UFOlee is a ~450 KB native Win32 binary with no window, no taskbar entry and no recognised process signature, so it stays running underneath the lockdown — and because it uses your own AI login, it doesn't depend on the exam machine's disabled network.
