What Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor Do
Respondus has two parts — LockDown Browser (the lockdown) and Respondus Monitor (the webcam AI):
- Application lockdown — blocks other programs, task switching, printing, copy-paste and right-click during the exam
- Forced full-screen — the exam can't be minimised or exited until submitted
- Respondus Monitor webcam AI — records your face and flags looking away, absence, or multiple people
- Blocked-app list — refuses to start if known virtual-machine or helper software is detected
- Environment check — webcam room scan and ID photo before the exam
Why Alt-Tab and Browser Extensions Fail on LockDown Browser
LockDown Browser's whole job is to stop you launching another app or switching tabs — so alt-tab and browser extensions simply don't work inside it. It also scans for known helper and VM processes and refuses to start if it finds them. UFOlee doesn't appear on that scan: it's a ~450 KB native binary with no window and no taskbar entry, and it launches before the exam and keeps running underneath the locked browser.
How UFOlee Works with LockDown Browser
Start UFOlee and log into your AI before opening LockDown Browser, then use the overlay over the locked exam:
- Launch UFOlee and log into your preferred AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) before starting the test
- Open your LockDown Browser assessment — UFOlee runs invisibly in the background
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S to reveal UFOlee's stealth browser overlay on top of LockDown Browser
- Press Ctrl+Shift+A to screenshot the question and automatically attach it to your AI chat
- Read the AI-generated solution, then highlight the answer or code you need
- Press Ctrl+Shift+F — UFOlee auto-types it into LockDown Browser using native hardware keystrokes
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S to hide UFOlee and review your work
